BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) joined her colleagues today for the announcement of the 2017 MassWorks Infrastructure awards for small and rural towns. Senator Anne Gobi Announces New Partnerships for Ware and Warren LED Streetlight Conversion Programs
BOSTON –Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) is pleased to announce that the towns of Ware and Warren have been awarded grants to help convert a number of their traditional streetlights to LED technology. Ware will receive $55,663 in funding and Warren will receive $8,431. The partnerships between the municipalities, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), and Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) will be funded through DOER’s $11.4 million Rapid LED Streetlight Conversion Program.  Learn more...

​BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has announced that thirteen communities in the Worcester, Hampden, Hampshire, & Middlesex district were awarded funding through the Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) grant program. BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Senator Anne Gobi Secures Funding in Senate Budget for a Water Line Study in Sturbridge
BOSTON – As the Town of Sturbridge battles with water contamination issues, Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has secured funding in the Senate Budget to study the costs of a connection to a water source for residents who are currently experiencing contamination in their water wells. This is seen as a major step towards getting families off of bottled water and back to a secure, clean water source. BOSTON – Senators Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) and Jennifer L. Flanagan (D-Leominster) have announced that the Massachusetts Senate adopted their budget amendment to provide funds for Women’s Housing for Veterans at “Cathy’s House” in Winchendon. BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has announced a unanimous vote by the Massachusetts Senate to increase regional school transportation reimbursement funding during Tuesday’s budget debate. This year the conference also featured an awards ceremony recognizing two Farm to School “Kale Blazers.” The award, given to those individuals who work tirelessly advocating for farm to school programs across the state, recognized Mass. State Senator Anne Gobi and Mass. Local Legislators Announce Highway Safety Grants Awarded to Local Communities
BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer), Representative Todd M. Smola (R-Warren), and Representative Donald R. Berthiaume, Jr. (R-Spencer) are pleased to announce that Palmer, Sturbridge and Ware have been awarded federal funding to promote highway safety. The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security will soon be releasing $7,500 to all three towns as part of the “Traffic Enforcement Grant Program.” These resources allow local police departments to increase “High Visibility Enforcement” patrols which coincide with statewide campaigns such as “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket."  Learn more...

​Legislature Passes Bill to Preserve Evidence for Victims of Rape and Sexual Assault
​BOSTON – Senators Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) and Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced that the Senate took final action to advance legislation that would establish uniform protocol and procedures for tracking, transporting, and collecting sexual assault evidence. Gobi, Massachusetts Caucus Of Women Legislators Legislative Priority Signed into Law 
BOSTON – The Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators is pleased to share that on Monday, August 1st, Governor Charlie Baker signed S.2119, An Act to Establish Pay Equity into law. The pay equity bill was the only legislative priority of the Caucus for the current session. Berthiaume, Jr. (R-Spencer) have announced that Dienes Corporation and Vibram USA have been awarded grants through the Workforce Training Fund General Program. Senate Passes Public Space Recycling Legislation
BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has announced that the Senate passed public space recycling legislation during Thursday’s formal session, taking another step towards meeting the targets set forth in the state’s Solid Waste Master Plan. Under the bill, starting in 2018, all state agencies, courts and general court buildings will be required to recycle the following materials: lead batteries, metal containers, single polymer plastics, recyclable paper, yard waste, tires, household appliances, fluorescent lamps, cathode ray tubes, carpets, and construction or demolition materials.  Learn more...

Whipps Lee (R-Athol) have announced that the Towns of Athol and Phillipston have been awarded grant funding through the Community Compact IT grant for a radio communications beacon. Athol has received $13,440 for hardware upgrades for essential town systems, which will allow the town to leverage a shared services agreement with the Athol-Royalston Regional School District. Berthiaume, Jr. (R-Spencer) have announced that the Towns of Barre and North Brookfield have been awarded grant funding through the Community Compact IT grant for a radio communications beacon. Barre has received $83,500 to upgrade infrastructure to facilitate regional technology cooperation between Barre, Rutland, and the Barre Regional Emergency Communication Center. Massachusetts Senate Passes Omnibus Tobacco Bill
BOSTON – Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has announced that the Massachusetts Senate passed S. 2234, An Act to Protect Youth from the Health Risks of Tobacco and Nicotine Addiction, an omnibus bill that seeks to reduce tobacco use and nicotine addiction among youth. Among other provisions, the legislation will prohibit the sale of all tobacco and nicotine delivery products to individuals under the age of 21. These funds will go towards acquiring a 76 acre parcel of land that abuts the Brimfield State Forest. BOSTON – The Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate voted today to pass a $38.1 billion spending bill for the 2016 Fiscal Year. Included in the bill is an increase in funding for regional school transportation reimbursements to towns.
