BOSTON — The House and Senate passed a sweeping $1 billion Economic Development Bill late Tuesday night, calling for targeted investments in workforce training programs and job creation through ambitious public infrastructure projects.

The bill authorizes millions of dollars in grants to workforce training programs and public infrastructure projects across Massachusetts, including:
$75 million in competitive grants for technical education and workforce training programs.
$250 million in bonds to the MassWorks Infrastructure Program that will support thousands of jobs rebuilding roads and bridges, restoring historic ports and completing community revitalization projects.

BOSTON – Today, Senator Anne Gobi (D-Spencer), Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Election Laws, and the Massachusetts Senate passed H.4671, An Act automatically registering eligible voters and enhancing safeguards against fraud. The legislation creates a framework in which eligible voters will be automatically registered to vote when receiving services from the Registry of Motor vehicles, MassHealth, and other participating state agencies. Legislators Announce Warren Recycling Grants

Smola (R-Warren) are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has awarded grants to Communities throughout the Commonwealth under its Sustainable Material Recovery Program. These grants increase the diversion, reuse, composting and recycling of materials which will decrease the disposal of municipal and household waste. As part of the program, Warren will receive $16,000. The award, in the amount of $2,652,296, is part of the MassWorks Infrastructure Grant Program, which provides funding for shovel-ready, high-impact projects supporting economic growth and job creation.
